Join the Review Crew

Do you love books?  Would you like to get free books?  You need to join the Review Crew.

I'm looking for readers who would like to write mini book reviews for books that you love.  All you need to do is write a paragraph telling other kids what the book is about and 2 things that you liked about the book. I can give you a template to help you.  Once you've written your review I'll post it on the blog for everyone to read.  The best thing is that each term I'll have free books that you can take to review and keep after you've read them.

If this sounds like you, come and see me in the library.  I have some free books waiting for reviewers to take right now.

Our Summer Reading

I'm really curious to find out what books you enjoyed over the summer holidays. I got the chance to read lots of books (23 great books!) and we'll be getting some of them for the library. If you've read an awesome book and we don't have it in our library please let me know so we can get it.

We have a Summer Reading display on the wall in the library. Let me know what your favourite summer reads were and I'll add them to the wall. Let's fill up the wall!

I bet you didn't know that Darth Vader loves reading! Here he is sharing the first line from one of his favourite books.  Can you guess which book he is reading?
If you think you know the book write the title on a piece of paper, along with your name and room number and put it in the entry box in the library.
Every correct answer goes into the draw for a Star Wars prize pack.  There are also prizes for the runners-up.  The winners will be announced today at 2pm.

A Child of Books by Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston

A Child of Books is an amazing new picture book that we'll have in the library very soon.  It's a celebration of books, reading and stories.  The illustrations on each of the pages are made up of words from classic books like Treasure Island and fairy tales like Rapunzel.

I can't wait to share this special book with you in the library!  It will be in the library after the holidays but while you wait you can watch the book trailer.
